Travel our way: Enabling & Empowering Communities

By June 7, 2019 June 14th, 2019 News

The moral test for humanity is what we do for others.

For those who are in the dawn of life, the children.

For those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly.

For those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the ill-equipped.

For us at Connections Group, social responsibility is about finding relevant opportunities where we can care, enable and empower individuals and communities through effective engagement and, ultimately, make a difference.

Effective engagement is our chosen path
As a leading experiential travel service company, Connections Group is serious about our responsibility to act with integrity and care for our communities. We strive to make a difference. Through regular liaisons and partnerships, we use our collective voice in selected social challenges with the aim to bring about transformational change for a better society.

Our stakeholders are committed to these core tenets of our social responsibility.

Embedding our social purpose into work in her own unique way is Executive Edge Travel’s Co-Founder and Head of Leisure, Yvonne Verstandig. Inspired by author-activist Suzy Zail’s latest novel, ‘I am Change’, and coinciding with the evolution of Yvonne’s new design for travel-immersive journeys with meaning, Yvonne has designed a special Travel My Way  journey to Uganda in November 2019.

Travel My Way – Uganda focuses upon empowering women and enabling young girls in Uganda and could affect real change in Africa.

Moved by the challenges faced by young Ugandan girls and the obstacles preventing them from reaching their potential, Yvonne is determined to offer support and make a difference.

Travel My Way Uganda
A big focus for Yvonne and the Travel My Way Uganda tour is about making a difference and giving back. The first half of the trip will be spent in Kampala visiting and supporting the aid organisations  helping Ugandan girls improve their circumstances and achieve their dreams.

According to Yvonne, “It is about digging beneath the surface to discover life as it’s lived every day. What lies at the core of our success is our commitment to leaving a lasting benefit to the communities we meet. Our local networks help us tap into otherwise inaccessible opportunities, creating interactive and empowering experiences to transform our guests’ lives and make a difference to the people and places we visit.”

As a socially conscious organisation, giving back is embedded in our culture at the Connections Group. We are also pro-active in our social stances and voice our beliefs in social issues. A truly non-discriminating and socially inclusive company, we stand for equality and support anti-discrimination. Our company prides itself on being a woman-majority organisation that supports and endorses gender equality, anti-domestic abuse and we are staunchly pro-human rights.

Winner of ‘Best Travel Agency’ in Australia for Luxury Travel magazine’s 2019 Gold List Awards, Executive Edge and Yvonne Verstandig believe savvy travellers are needing more. They are looking for an opportunity to make a difference to those in need, to give back to local communities who need help, and become more aware of the destination they visit, ensuring sustainability is maintained.

Travel My Way Uganda offers travellers an unique insight into Uganda and an opportunity to ignite the passion to make a difference.

A great example of Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Director Gary Reichenberg applauds the initiative.

“While doing good is its own reward, our passion for giving back has opened us venues to make the world a better place for our partners, employees and everyone else in the communities where we operate,” Gary says.

“Giving back isn’t just about donating money; it’s about investing and advocating for a cause and values we believe in. It’s who we are. It is a value we hold close to our heart, one that integrates social responsibility and sustainability into our core business.”
